Google Chrome OS is a new project, separate from Android. Android was designed from the beginning to work across a variety of devices from phones to set-top boxes to netbooks. Google Chrome OS is being created for people who spend most of their time on the web, and is being designed to power computers ranging from small netbooks to full-size desktop systems. While there are areas where Google Chrome OS and Android overlap, we believe choice will drive innovation for the benefit of everyone, including Google.

Just search for – “SEO is Dead” in Google & you shall get around 10,000 odd results. These posts on the death of SEO usually come about when Google makes any significant modification in their algo.

Case in point is the latest algo change, with regards to Branding. Aaron as usual has an analysis here; http://www.seobook.com/google-branding

So, it took the big G, ten years to deduce that for the search query ‘airlines’, Continental, US Airways & United should be on top:) . Well, since politics has been in highlight for this year so far, Google has come out with this ‘politically correct algo change’! No one can argue that it’s incorrect to have these brands on top of SERPS, right?

So, why the “SEO is Dead” rant? It comes from webmasters who have been affected by any recent change in algo, OR are no longer able to make ‘easy money’, OR are not able to please their clients, etc, etc.

A ‘politically correct’ answer is: Till the time, search engines are operational, SEO will be alive too!

Hey, Google even has an official Search Engine Optimization Starter Guide now.

A more realistic answer to the “SEO is Dead” rant, is that things have just begun to get complex:) We have SMO – Social Media Optimization & within SMO, we are just beginning to see the following;
FBO => FaceBook Optimization [sic],
TWO/TTO/TMO [wtf] => Twitter Optimization…LOL.,
LIO is underway => LinkedIn Optimization,
SLO however, did not take off, or still exists..=> SecondLife Optimization!!

So, which ‘O’, do you want to specialize in?

More on the recent ‘Branding algo change’, next week, hopefully.

BTW, i felt like writing this post because, i read this article in Economic Times, Pune edition of 20th February 2009. Sorry for the poor quality scan.

I have been ‘curious’ about Django for a couple of years now & have been regularly checking oon the progress since Django began in 2005. Anyway, I came across a good sale at one of the hosting guides. Web Hosting Search is having a deal with Web Hosting Buzz. The sale was just for the Black Friday holiday in the US. (When everyone goes wild shopping) But, the sale is going on and if you type in ” cybermonday ” when checking out at webhostingbuzz.com, you’ll get $6.99 off of any plan (though it excludes Reseller and VPS accounts).

Want to get more information? Read the Web Hosting Buzz review or visit the cheapest web hosting list to see the best prices on plans for your site.

Would this be step one for Google? Step 2 could be owning it’s own satellite??? I guess sci-fi writers will have a field day coming up with stories based in this

** Update **

The Google Chrome Browser has been launched now & Whoooo Hoooooo, it is FAST !!

I wish there was a default setting for incognito mode

The default Font in the url box, seems to be like Verdana, so that will take some time getting used too.

Google gears can be accessed from the “Create Application shortcuts”.

Now, I wonder whether any MS employees will be fired for using Google Chrome or vice-versa

———————-x-x-x—————–

Google Chrome Browser will be launched today. See here: http://www.google.com/chrome

I went through all the 38 pages of the comic description of Chrome here;

http://www.google.com/googlebooks/chrome/

This is huge, huge, huge.

It was not a question of will they, won’t they, but question of When? Since Gmail, i think this is the most important products coming out from Google. I guess development for this must have started since a few years, as this is a MAJOR product & it’s impact will be felt in years to come.

In typical Google fashion, it’s a) Open source & b) Has a couple of ‘new & useful’ features & c) Tries to be user friendly.

However the 38 page pictorial description in a comic format here;
http://www.google.com/googlebooks/chrome/ will not be that simple to understand for the average Joe Smith.

With this product coming out from the Google factory, a major piece of the jigsaw is in place, for web dominion. Running along side is Google Gears, iGoogle, Gmail, Google Docs, etc., sounds scary isn’t it? However, it is a step forward in the right direction. Hope get to review the Google Chrome browser asap today.

Kudos to Big B for using the net to directly communicate. This way, he does not have to rely on the traditional media to share his thoughts & views. You must be aware of the recent controversy Amitabh Bachchan was dragged into, so he has taken the most effective path to reach out & it has been successful so far.

Bloggers will envy the kind of success Big B’s blog has since going live, check these stats out: day 7 had 900 comments ! and since second week everyday has more than 200 comments or so & most have them start with “Dear Amit Ji”. That’s the kind of adulation & respect Big B draws & i bet that Amit Ji’s blog would be most popular blogs by an Indian actor.

I guess that due to this blog’s success there would be many more Indian actors and filmstars joining the blogosphere. In terms of competition only Rajnikanth or SRK’s blog would be able to attract the readership that Amitabh’s blog would draw.

On the footer of the blog is noticed this “Theme: Dialy Skin Care”, which is a link to a blog on Daily Skin Care & a typo included. Now, I guess some webmaster at BigAdda.com has forgot to remove the site from where he was ‘inspired’ to design this blog theme or if he is trying to sneak this link in then, his job could be on the line, hope he/she is aware of this.

Below is a printscreen of this ‘error’???

The take away from this blog post is;

a) Celebrities do not have to rely on traditional media to connect with their audience. In this case, the timing of the AB’s blog launch has more to do with the current controversy.

b) Achievers in life find time from their busy schedules to constantly explore new avenues, vistas & experiment with new innovative ways to further their cause.

c) It’s never to late to blog, no matter what your age or profession is
