First it was those stories, about Brazilians on Orkut, then analysis & discussions on how & why Orkut has taken off in Brazil & South America for that matter. Even Sergey & Brin do not know why !!

Now comes another statistical data from Palxo, in form of their ‘Connected Index’. According to Plaxo: The Plaxo press release, in which Argentina Tops the list.

The Connected Index ranks the level of connectedness between people, country by country, based on the average number of contacts in their Plaxo smart address book. Plaxo will issue Connected Index findings regularly to measure how “connectedness” is evolving as Internet usage and online social networking increase worldwide.

Well, 2 years ago, when i was invited to Orkut, there were ‘relatively’ few Indians there. Today, I am seeing lot of youngsters in Indian Cyber Cafes only ‘Orkuting’. Also, I receive almost an average of one ‘friend request’, every other day from Indians. I predict that at this rate Indians would overtake Brazilians, and when that happens, i also bet that there would be more social problems, like the ones Brazil & Orkut is facing now 🙁

I wonder, when are the Chinese gonna overtake everyone. *S*
